The co-op gymnastics team from Mona Shores, which also features team members from Reeths-Puffer and Oakridge, tumbled its way to a third-consecutive invite championship last Saturday, placing tops at the 10-team tournament by accumulating a season high score of 42.025.
In Division 2 play, Reeths-Puffer’s Shannon Cook was again the girl to watch, taking first in the All-Around behind a score of 35.90. Cook won the bars and the beam as well, nabbing scores of 8.65 and 9.15, resepectively. Cook also placed third on floor (9.20) and sixth on vault (8.90). Teammate Gabe Poulin placed 10th on beam (8.45,) and Oakridge’s Courtney Jimenez placed ninth on bars (8.20). Brandi McGhan scored 8.30 on vault, thus earning her a regional qualifying score.
In Division 1, Jackie Sipovic placed third All-Around scoring a season-high score of 36.20, while also placing third on floor (9.20) and second on beam (9.0). Teammate Brittany Wilson placed second on bars (9.275) and third on beam (8.70).
Tuesday, the squad remained undefeated in O-K Rainbow Conference play after over-powering Forest Hills 138.875-127.375.
Wilson won beam (9.20) and the All-Around by scoring a season-high 36.875 points. Wilson also placed second on bars (9.50) and floor (9.45), and third on vault (8.725). Reeths-Puffer’s Cook placed second on vault and beam (8.75), and third on floor (8.925) and the All-Around (35.425). Cook also placed fouth on bars (9.0).
Jackie Sipovic placed third on bars (9.45), while Amanda Weise was fourth on vault (8.325), fifth on floor (8.025) and in the All-Around (30.85). Poulin placed fourth on beam (8.45).
